FinTech Mesitis Raises US$3m

Singapore-based FinTech Mesitis, maker of the app Canopy which combines financial data from multiple banks, currencies and asset types into a single portfolio, has raised US$3m in a series A funding round.

Those who took part in the funding round were mainly private investors (including customers of the app) and company staff.

Tanmai Sharma, the CEO of the company and founder, said that this latest round of funding showed the confidence people had in the app and its product range.

Launched in 2014, Canopy reckons that it handles around US$800m in assets. The new money will allow, says the company, to expand into new territories including Dubai, Hong Kong and Dubai, and take on around ten new staff to work in software development and marketing.

Canopy got established by targeting high-net-worth individuals who lived in Singapore and now intends to reach out to affluent investors in the mass market.
